Ionospheric corrections via PIM and real-time data

چکیده

We describe a method for removing ionospheric effects from single-frequency radio data a posteriori. This method is based on a theoretical climatological model developed by the USAF, which returns ne(~r, t) along the line of sight to the source. Together with a model of B⊕, ionospheric delay and Faraday rotation values ensue. If contemporaneous ionospheric data — GPS TEC observations or ionosonde profiles — exist, they can be incorporated to update the modeled ne.

Incorporating WAAS Data Into an Ionospheric Model for Correcting Satellite Radar Observations

The GPS Real-Time Ionospheric Monitoring System (GRIMS) has been operational at the Millstone Hill radar in Massachusetts since 1991 and at the FPS-85 radar in Florida since 1994. GRIMS employs GPS derived estimates of the total electron content (TEC) to provide real-time ionospheric corrections to radar measurements, incorporating data from a single receiver to generate TEC estimates for the e...

A PIM-aided Kalman Filter for GPS Tomography of the Ionospheric Electron Content

We develop the formalism for a PIM-based functional for stochastic tomography with a Kalman filter, in which the inversion problem associated with four-dimensional ionospheric stochastic tomography is regularized. For consistency, GPS data is used to select dynamically the best PIM parameters, in a 3DVAR fashion. We demonstrate the ingestion of GPS (IGS and GPS/MET) data into a parameterized io...

Weighting Ionospheric Corrections to Improve Fast GPS Positioning Over Medium Distances

The success of precise GPS positioning over long baselines depends on the ability of resolving the integer phase ambiguities when short observation time spans are required. The ionosphere is the major error source for these kind of positioning problems and due to the current maximum of solar activity the ionospheric delay errors in GPS signals can be much larger than in periods of minimum activ...

Wide Area Real Time Kinematics with Galileo and GPS Signals

The main factor limiting the range extension of the Real Time Kinematics technique beyond few tens of kilometers is the differential ionospheric correction between the roving and the nearest reference GNSS station. Such ionospheric correction impedes the real-time ambiguity fixing, and the corresponding accurate navigation at the sub-decimeter level. In this paper, the authors present the recen...

Fast Precise Point Positioning: A System to Provide Corrections for Single and Multi-frequency Navigation

Fast precise point positioning (Fast-PPP) provides Global Navigation Satellite System corrections in real time. Satellite orbits and clock corrections are shown to be accurate to a few centimeters and a few tenths of a nanosecond which, together with the determination of the fractional part of the ambiguities, enable global high-accuracy positioning with undifferenced Integer Ambiguity Resoluti...
